Lake Tahoe general information

Each resort in Lake Tahoe requires its own lift pass, varying in price. It’s possible to buy an interchangeable ticket, but bear in mind that it can be tricky and time-consuming (especially in the snowy weather) to trek between the north and south sides of the lake.

The vast size of Lake Tahoe means that getting to the north and getting to the south requires two entirely different routes. The north is best reached from California, while the south – which is more of the party side – is reachable from Nevada.

The nearest sizeable airports are Reno / Tahoe, 45 minutes away, Sacramento, two hours away and San Francisco, four and a half hours away. Flying into Reno / Tahoe is the most convenient option as bus shuttle services from there run to both the north and south sides of the lake.
