Accommodation in Cervinia

Accommodation in Cervinia

Unless you’re arriving on a packaged skiing holiday, finding accommodation in Cervinia is something of a chore, as most of the 50 or so two to three-star hotels and lodges are taken up by local tour operators, leaving a vastly reduced choice for independent travellers. One possibilityis the three-star Lo Stambeco, the only hotel set at altitude, up at Plan Maison. It’s perfectly placed for early starts, while many of the other hotels are some distance from the slopes, making choosing where to stay a crucial aspect of pre-planning, although a number do provide a minibus service to the lifts.

Other types of accommodation, such as catered or self-catering chalets and inns are thin on the ground in Cervinia due to the monopoly created by the resort’s package tour operators. The resort has many rental apartments, although very few are available to UK-based package tour companies. Club Med has a comfortable complex here with all the usual facilities. Generally, hotels here offer a pool, spa, hot tubs and attentive, friendly service, with a good number boasting recent upgrades. A luxury option is the Hermitage, a small Relais et Chateau located just outside the village with astounding views.
