Après-ski in Chamonix

Après-ski in Chamonix

Après-ski in Chamonix has its own special flavour. Unlike some other popular ski resorts, the party scene here takes place away from the slopes. The town of Chamonix is the heart of après-ski but much of the off-piste fun is also enjoy in several of the villages near the various lifts.

The scheduling and nature of après-ski varies depending on the time of the season and the conditions. Early on in the season and for those who prefer something a little less energetic after the slopes, there is an excellent variety of restaurants offering a choice of international cuisine without the need to brave the club crowds.

For those keen to enjoy a drink without pounding sound systems, Chamonix has a number of relaxed wine bars and pubs where gentle conversation can be enjoyed. The world-class casino in Chamonix offers another way to spend afternoons and evenings out of the snow.

Full-on parties are a key part of the Chamonix appeal, however. For most of the season, the big jams tend to start at around 16:00 and are held at a variety of venues. As the season hits its stride, these events get bigger and busier. Towards the end of the season, as the slopes and lifts shut down and the skiing options dwindle, the après-ski sound systems and organised festivities start as early as 11:00.
