St Anton weather and snow conditions

The Arlberg ski areas, including St Anton, receive more snow each year than

any other Austrian ski destination, giving snow-sure slopes for most of the season as well as lots of winter sunshine. Heavy snowfalls when weather systems blow in from the northwest or west give great conditions with fresh powder as late as April, although south and southeast-facing slopes may experience heavy going or ice at times. In general, snow conditions here top most other resorts set at a similar altitude and the lower slopes are well-equipped with snow cannons to back up during low-snow periods.

Daytime temperatures in January range between 0˚C and -10˚C, rising to above -5˚C in April and May. Monthly hours of sunshine across most of the season hover around 100, rising to around 150 by late March and into April, and snowfall is even across the season, although a slight increase in January is normal. Winds, even at altitude, tend to stay at moderate levels.
