Lech weather and snow conditions

Lech weather and snow conditions

Despite its sunny position, Lech’s altitude of 1450m and snowfall of around 8m between December and March, make it fairly snow-sure up until late April. In fact, it’s one of the top destinations for reliable snow. However, its remote location sometimes means that heavy snowfalls can close the main road for several days, though this is quite a rarity.

It’s worth remembering before packing that most of the skiing in Lech is above the tree line, so skiers are really exposed to the elements. While wrapping up warm goes without saying on a ski break, on a cold day in Lech, it’s even more of a consideration. Perhaps that’s why the warm and spicy gluhwein in Lech is such a big hit!

Though Lech is fairly snow-sure during the ski season, for extra reassurance, the town currently has 96 snow cannons which augment enough natural snow to cover an impressive 105kms of the resort’s 206kms of runs.
