Igls weather and snow conditions

Igls sits on a sunny plateau which means that snow can melt fairly quickly on a sunny day. All of its slopes lie below 2,500m, so it can’t be considered snow-sure. In peak season, snow is fairly reliable and, thanks to the relative quiet of the resort, there is often virgin snow and fresh powder for those who venture out early enough.

Even if the snow fall can’t be guaranteed, the resort has around 18 snow cannons, which is enough to cover the majority of its pistes with augmented snow. The lack of crowds also ensures snow stays powdery for longer and doesn’t compact into ski-damaging slippery ice.

Again, Igls’ location is the clincher. It’s part of the Innsbruck Glacier pass, which provides year-round skiing, whatever the weather.
