Finkenberg weather and snow conditions

Finkenberg’s position on a mountain plateau ensures it is a typically sunny spot, with stunning views over the Tuxertal Valley. Not only does its location practically guarantee sunshine, but the popular Hintertux Glacier ensures year-round skiing opportunities. Combined with the town’s altitude of 3250 metres, with the highest slopes above 2500 metres, checking the forecast before you leave isn’t necessary. Additionally, Finkenberg has invested in over 200 snow cannons which produce masses of artificial snow that cover 105km (or around 45 slopes), so there’s always the opportunity to plough through virgin powder snows if you head to the Glacier World 3000 Zillertal area, where the cannons are based. However, for the best conditions, peak season runs from December and April and offers regular snowfall and pleasant sunshine.
