Bad Gastein weather and snow conditions

Bad Gastein is open for skiing from the end of November to the end of April. With 590 snow cannons across 45km of slopes, combined with its high altitudes and cool winters, snow conditions during ski season are nearly always good.

Though the snowfall is fairly regular, the majority of Bad Gastein’s slopes face the prevailing wind, so they can get blown dry fairly quickly. But the heavy snow during peak season, from January to March, almost guarantees reliable weather and excellent ski conditions.

Its location in the dizzy heights of Hohe National Park mean Bad Gastein is nearly always fog free, with excellent visibility. But, if the weather fails, there’s always Alpinetherme to help ease the disappointment.
