North Cyprus Nightlife

North Cyprus Nightlife

Whilst you may not find yourself drinking all day and partying all night in North Cyprus as much as you would in somewhere like Ibiza, there’s certainly no shortage of entertainment when the sun goes down on this Mediterranean island.  The kind of nightlife that has been established in the south of Cyprus, in resorts like Ayia Napa has yet to fully spread to the quieter shores of the north of the island, but if you are determined to dance the night away then you will still have plenty of options.

The first stop most tourists make on a night out is a local watering hole and North Cyprus nightlife has bars and pubs aplenty.  Kyrenia offers probably the most choice of all the resorts on the island and much of the night time action centres around the town’s beautiful harbour.  The harbour side is lined with restaurants and bars, many of which have outdoor tables where you can sit and drink in the fantastic sunsets with a local beverage or a Turkish coffee if you need pepping up after a big meal.  There are a variety of bars, from small quiet establishments where you can have a glass of wine with the locals, to bars with booming sound systems and large screens showing sports matches.  Many of Kyrenia’s bars are open through the night and will also offer you some meze to soak up the alcohol!  Café 34 and Boaters are both well-loved establishments near the harbour.  But Kyrenia isn’t the only location in North Cyprus for a spot of sundown drinking, Famagusta has a good selection of scenic bars, Plato’s Bar in Nicosia is open until 2am and claims to have the best stocked bar on the island, and the casinos and hotels along the Lapta strip open their bars to non residents and tend to attract the local celebrities.

As well as bars, North Cyprus has a number of pub type watering holes where you can drink your beer in a pint glass and wash it down with some chips – favourites include The Cabin and The Stumble Inn in Lapta.  There are also beach clubs in a number of locations, which have been based on the same model as Mambo and Café Del Mar in Ibiza – think sunset chill out vibes and delicious cocktails.  Bar Code, 5 Mile and Ice are all well known, as well as Escape Beach Club in Kyrenia where you can dance all night until the sun rises over the beach.

Nightclubs in North Cyprus are not as numerous as other holiday destinations but as a result there’s no confusion about where the best place is to party the night away!  Nightpark in central Kyrenia is a well-known club with DJs playing the latest party tunes to a packed dance floor.  Roxanne’s at The Rocks hotel plays more 70s classics and funk and at The Cherenis Gardens you can dance under the stars as it’s an open-air venue.  As well as clubbing, North Cyprus is also good for live music – Habanera at The Rocks hotel probably provides the best line-ups.
