Northern Cyprus Hotels

North Cyprus hotels offer holidaymakers a huge range of choice when it comes to deciding where to stay during those precious weeks of summer holiday. Although the area is a relatively recent addition to the Mediterranean’s mainstream tourist trail, there’s no shortage of accommodation options, from hotels with spectacular sea views, to hotels right in the centre of the action.  North Cyprus is blessed with miles of beautiful coastline and the kind of local history that would keep a history buff happy for several years so there is plenty to keep most travellers occupied, whatever the aim of the trip.

Hotels come in all shapes, sizes and standards, in 2, 3, 4 and 5 star.  There are hotels across North Cyprus, but they tend to be clustered around five main centres: Kyrenia, Famagusta, Iskele, Nicosia and Guzelyurt.  Kyrenia is probably the best-known place to stay and is a lively town on the edge of a beautiful harbour with an impressive local castle.  Famagusta is blessed with some incredible long, sandy beaches and is a perfect destination for beach bunnies and sun worshippers.  Iskele is down the coast from Famagusta, a relatively quiet option famous for its wild donkeys and annual grape festival.  The capital Nicosia is a great place to stay if you are looking for historical architecture as there are buildings dating from Gothic or Ottoman periods.  Finally, Guzelyurt is populated with citrus groves and underground springs and a great option if you’re a fan of shady picnic spots and getting away from it all.

At the upper end of the scale, hotels like the 64-room Rocks Hotel & Casino in Kyrenia cater for everything you could possibly want from a luxury summer holiday, including a spa and wellness centre, squash courts and a vitamin bar.  Similarly, the Dome Hotel has some of the best views over Kyrenia harbour and its own casino.  The mid ranged Ship Inn offers bed and breakfast and has a traditional English bar if you’re British and missing your home comforts!  Or you can go for a boutique option like the Hideaway Club Hotel, which is three miles out of Kyrenia and doesn’t accept children under 12.  The three star Bogaz Hotel near Iskele is situated right on the Karpaz Peninsular so has spectacular mountain views.  Or you can choose the Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel, which is right on the beach in Famagusta.
