Direct flights to North Cyprus

Direct flights to North Cyprus

Direct flights to North Cyprus are at the moment only possible if you are flying from somewhere in Turkey or with the private Azeri carrier from Azerbaijan.  This is because North Cyprus is not yet recognised as an independent country with its own internationally recognised airport.  Despite this, it is still possible to reach North Cyprus with a minimum of fuss and hassle.

Probably the closest you will get to a direct flight is to book a flight to Ercan in North Cyprus via Turkey.  It’s possible to book these flights from most countries and once you get to Turkey there is normally no more than an hour’s stopover time and no need to leave the plane.  Airlines that fly this route include Turkish Airlines and Onur Air.

Another alternative option is to book a fight to Larnaca in southern Cyprus and then make the journey by road to your destination in the north.   Choosing this route does tend to open up more flight options, in terms of times and prices, but you do have to be prepared for the 90 minute journey north once you get off the plane.  If you are booking a package deal and you want to take this route you will often find that this is factored into the price and your tour operator will arrange a transfer.  Make sure you check that this transfer is covered somewhere in your package deal before you leave as local taxis can be expensive.
