10 Essential Style Tips For the 2013 Beach Holiday Season

summer-fashion

If you’re planning what to wear for this year’s holiday in the sun and aren’t sure what to pack, then this guide’s for you. With everything from bold prints to summer flowers, there’s something to suit every budget and shape to make sure you are looking stylish and chic in the sun.

Consider the weather!

The British weather is as unpredictable as ever, but this year’s fashions make it possible to prepare for every eventuality and still look great. Cut off denim shorts are still popular and with the exciting prints that are making a splash this season, you can give a new twist to an old classic.

Black and white

Black is a perennial fashion mainstay and this year it makes its appearance combined with white. Black and white stripes are very much in and make a striking statement, regardless of whether the stripes are narrow or wide. Stripes work well on swimwear too, adding their slimming touch to modern silhouettes.

Monochrome

This year, monochrome is in and the season’s hot colour is blue, whether it be a deep, dark navy or a pretty pastel. If you’re not quite brave enough to go head to toe, a blue handbag or shoes will bring an old favourite up to date.

Geometric prints

If stripes aren’t your thing, then have a look at some geometric prints – checks and tessellating patterns combine for some very strong looks this season and you can team a signature piece with shorts or leggings for a number of different styles.

70s Retro

Every year sees a nod to fashion gone past and this year, it’s the 70s which are making a comeback. As well as the wide range of ethnic prints available, embroidered cheesecloth dresses and kaftans are popular, making a perfect cover for swimwear, especially combined with the 70s styled halter neck bikinis that are making an appearance this season.

Floral maxi dresses

Your 2013 summer wardrobe isn’t complete without a couple of floral maxi dresses. Floral prints capture the spirit of the season perfectly and a maxi dress is a great way to show off a pretty pattern. The shape of these dresses flatter most figures, especially pear shapes, and the light fabric has a cooling effect on those long, hot days. We found a great range on Style in View with prices from £17.99.

Swimwear

This season you are absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to swimwear. The range is broader than ever, with everything from one pieces to bikinis to tankinis on offer. This means that you can go for a swimsuit that complements your wardrobe and use it to mix and match with other pieces, whether you like florals, geometric prints or the monochrome look.

Accessories

Don’t forget the importance of accessories. This year, when it comes to sunglasses, the bigger the better and if you’ve ever been tempted to experiment with colour, this is the time of year to do it.

Make up

This season’s make up is geared towards natural, light eye make up teamed with bold lip colours that really stand out against tanned skin. If you haven’t been able to get a break in the sun yet, go for a spray tan to give your skin a gentle, healthy glow.

Caviar manicure

If you want to be stylish from top to toe, then don’t forget your nails! A caviar manicure will complete your look and you can really get creative with your nails by using caviar pearls on only one or two so they stand out even more.
